Elizabeth Smart Praises Amber Alerts
The Denver Post features highlights from today’s speech by Elizabeth Smart at the National Amber Alert Conference held in Denver, which was sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice.
Smart was the first case involving Utah’s Rachel Alert system back in 2002, named after a Utah girl abducted and killed in 1982. Smart was rescued in March 2003 after a tip by two Utah citizens regarding her whereabouts.
Smart, now a sophomore at Brigham Young University, spoke of how important the program continues to be both in Utah and nationally.
